All Burleson Oracle consultants are Oracle certified DBAs and the vast majority possess Masters or PhD Degrees from distinguished colleges.  Many have SECRET US Government security clearances and all BC Oracle consultants have the highest moral and ethical standards.

Minimum Oracle Job Requirements

All potential candidates for BC Oracle consultant jobs are required to meet all of the following requirements in several mission-critical areas. 

Note:  BC clients require only DBAs who have a demonstrated history of making a full-time career in Oracle.  These are minimum requirements and ,many of our DBA's have qualifications far in excess of these minimums.  Due to the high volume of resumes submitted, those which do not meet the minimum requirements will not be reviewed nor acknowledged.

1 - Formal Education - A four-year Degree is required from a fully-accredited USA University in one of the following academic disciplines:  

• Computer Science or Software Engineering from a Computer Science Accreditation Board (CSAB) accredited university.
   
• Business Administration (BA, MBA or PhD) in Business Administration with an Information Systems concentration (must be from an AACSB accredited University).
   
• Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical) from a university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Your degree must be from a University possessing a first-tier or second-tier rating by US News & World Report - America's Best Colleges.  Graduates from Ivy League schools, retired military officers, graduates of U.S. Military Academies (Air Force Academy, West Point, Annapolis) and those with active security clearances are also highly desirable. 

Please note that these are minimum requirements, and those with advanced degrees (Masters Degrees, Doctoral Degrees) are strongly preferred.

2 - Work Experience - A minimum of five years of full-time, progressive experience in relational database administration and management. Please note that this is a minimum requirement, and most successful BC consultants have over 20 years full-time experience with a variety of database products.

3 - Certification - All BC consultants are required to possess a Certified Oracle Master or an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.

4 - Publishing - All candidates must have a demonstrable commitment to the advancement of IT knowledge by publishing in at least one of the following areas:

• Books - IT technical books or recognized academic press.
• Conference papers - OracleWorld, Database World, etc.
• Academic Journals - IEEE, Journal of Information Systems, etc.
• Trade Periodicals - Oracle Magazine, Oracle Internals, DM-Review, Dr. Dobbs journal, etc.

5 - High Personal Integrity - All applicants must demonstrate the highest degree of personal and moral integrity. 

In lieu of an active US security clearance, candidates must pass a background check and be free of any criminal convictions (except minor traffic violations). Further, any acts of moral turpitude (history of drug use, dishonesty, lying, cheating, theft) are grounds for immediate rejection, and all applicants must sign a waiver to disclose personal information.

6 - Outstanding Personal Appearance - Please carefully review the Burleson Consulting Dress Code before applying.
 

7 - Additional Specialized Skills - One of the following specialized skills may be substituted, one-for-one, for the minimum job requirements 1 through 4:

• A Masters Degree or Doctorate Degree from a major University
• An active US Secret, Top secret or Q-level Security Clearance
• Oracle Parallel Server or Oracle Real Application Clusters experience
• SAP, Oracle Applications, or PeopleSoft Oracle DBA experience
• UNIX System Administration experience in HP/UX, Solaris or AIX
• Oracle DBA for IBM mainframes

It is also refreshing to see a company that stresses integrity as a core business principle. Unfortunately too many businesses do not understand the importance of honest, forthright business dealings.

Although it might take a lot longer to hire the employees you seek, in the end it will save you a lot of money due to the reliability of your work force.
