Question: I am getting the ORA-29260 error
when attempting to connect to my Oracle instance:
ORA-29260: network error: TNS:lost contact
How do I resolve the ORA-29260 error?
Answer: The ORA-29260 is a sporadic error,
the code works fine when the traffic is slow and fails when network
traffic is high. The ORA-29260 error is almost due to a
firewall or a slow network where high packet rates cause high
network latency. There are only a few options to fic a
ORA-29260 error:
- Tune your
TNS network
layer
- Install a faster network like Dark Fiber
- Check for blocked ports or firewalls
- Consider trying the
tcp.nodelay setting in your protocol.ora file.
The documentation notes this on the ORA-029260 error:
ORA-29260: network error tips
Cause: A network error occurred.
Action: Fix the network error and retry the
operation
