ORA-01458: invalid length inside variable character string tips

The Oracle docs note this on the ora-01458 error:

ORA-01458 invalid length inside variable character string: Cause: An attempt was made to bind or define a variable character string with a buffer length less than the minimum requirement.; Action: Increase the buffer size or use a different type.

ORA-01458 contains a necessity for the user to define their variable in accordance to buffer length requirements. On the Oracle Knowledgebase of ITtoolbox, a user asks why they continue to receive error code ORA-01458 while attempting WIP transactions. Because ORA-01458 concerns the buffer length, the reply advises:

The length of buffer is less than the required or more than its length at bind time minus two bytes.
See that the string size is long enough to hold the
buffer.
