cluster alert log location Tips

Oracle Database Tips by Donald BurlesonNovember 7, 2015

Question: Where is the location of the RAC CRS cluster alert log?

Answer: The cluster alert log contains diagnostic messages for the Oracle cluster. The location for the cluster alert log is at this location:

This location contains log file and diagnostic messages for Oracle Clusterware.

In addition, we have the following supplemental CRS log locations:

- $ORA_CRS_HOME/crs/log:   Contains trace files for the CRS resources.

- $ORA_CRS_HOME/crs/init:   Contains trace files of the CRS daemon during startup.

- $ORA_CRS_HOME/css/log:   The Cluster Synchronization (CSS) logs indicate all actions such as reconfigurations, missed check-ins, connects, and disconnects from the client CSS listener.

- $ORA_CRS_HOME/css/init:   Contains core dumps from the Oracle Cluster Synchronization Service daemon (OCSSd) and the process ID (PID) for any CSS daemon process.

- $ORA_CRS_HOME/evm/log: Contains log files for the Event Volume Manager (EVM) and evmlogger daemons.

- $ORA_CRS_HOME/evm/init:  Contains PID and lock files for EVM and core dump files for EVM.

- $ORA_CRS_HOME/srvm/log:  Contains log files for Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR), which contains the details at the Oracle cluster level.
