Question: What
cause the ORA-32034 error?
I lam trying to create a view using the WITH clause and I
am getting an ORA-32034 error:
ORA-32034: unsupported use of WITH
clause
Answer: To create a view using the
with clause, see
create view using with clause. The oerr utility shows
this for the ORA-32034 error:
ORA-32034:
Unsupported use of WITH clause
Cause:
Improper use of WITH clause because one of
the following two reasons:
1. nesting of WITH clause
within WITH clause not supported yet
2. For a set query,
WITH clause can't be specified for a branch.
3. WITH
clause can't specified within parentheses.
Action: Correct query and retry.
As we see, there are three syntax restrictions for using
the WITH clause. For more details on using subquery
factoring, see my notes on using the
with
clause. Also see how to
simplify complex SQL using the WITH clause.
