What not do do when applying for a job

Here is a list of job application fubars that are too strange to make up.

General resume mistakes

If you are going to apply for a job that requires good oral and written communication skills and plan on professing that you have such skills:

Please be sure to spell your own name correctly.

>From the resume: Brandon Applicant

Please use complete sentences in your resume/cover letter:

I am also very proficient with sales skills and management. As well as having excellent written and oral communication skills.

Please use punctuation properly and in your genuine dedication to excellence, be certain you are using words like "inherent" in a clear context, else the inherent nature of your communication skills may not be obvious:

I attribute my continued success to hard work, Perseverance and genuine dedication to excellence. 

You can rely on my solid work ethic, sound judgment, and inherent communication skills.

Please do not include sweeping general statements that a prospective employer will find hard to believe:

Worked as a computer operator for 14 years.  Worked without supervision for the entire time.

Please do not attempt to save space/time/effort by slashing words together:

My resume that highlights my ability/knowledge/expertise in Customer Service and Clerical areas/industries is enclosed.

During my time at my previous employers I was able to succeed/save money/save time/increase sales/increase productivity for the company.

If you are active in cultural activities, please spell out the organization or use the correct acronym:

NACCP

Please do not use ellipses in your goal statement:

To obtain a position in Sales Office Administration ... especially in a people-oriented organization where there is a need to assure broad cooperative effort through the use of sound planning, strong administration, and strong organizational skills to achieve goals.

While we understand that you were very important in your current or last position, please include a brief summary of your responsibilities. If we need details, we will ask during the interview process:

Responsible for negotiating contracts for meetings. Arranges meetings and/or community events on or off site.  Facilitates cross-functional communication as necessary to achieve objectives.

Manage unique project team that has the necessary knowledge and perspective to resolve the specific issue. Proactively addresses interpersonal problems in a professional manner in order to avoid future conflicts.

Please think about what you are writing. I've never seen a live medical record, so I never thought about what happened to the deceased ones:

Boxes up decease medical record in boxes date and label and ship off to storage.

Please do not use acronyms assuming that everyone knows what they mean. They might, or they might get irritated trying to figure them out:

Analyzed and provided feedback to CCRs B2B sales of 5 major telecommunications companies throughout the nation

Spell check cannot catch everything:

I am a well disciplined individual who has grate respect for my environment and others around me.

Even if your name NEEDS a pronunciation guide ... please do not include it

Some details are better skipped on a resume. When applying for a job in an office environment, some thing do not mesh well:

Associates Evisceration Department

If these are your goals, please do not include them:

I plan on finding a job I enjoy and also grow in so I can move out and still enjoy my job.

Use an appropriate e-mail
