Internet Oracle deployment of public data over the web

QUESTION: What is the best database implementation for housing publicly available data on the Internet?  Is a separate database with some delayed update the best implementation or is there a better alternative, and does the standby database accomplish both objectives?"
 
ANSWER: Oracle offers several options for deployment of Oracle data over the web with HTML, most popular with the Oracle XE free database:
PHP/Oracle - This book "Easy Oracle PHP" describes how to create web-enabled Oracle application screens.
 
J2EE/JDeveloper - The JDeveloper tool is popular among shops with Java expertise.
 
HTML-DB (Oracle Application Express) - Easy to create and interface sophisticated applications with Oracle.  For more details, see the book "Easy Oracle Application Express: HTML-DB".
