Oracle Ring of Fire Conference
is soliciting volunteersOracle Database Tips by Donald Burleson |
UPDATE - 10/19/2006
Byron Bush, president of the Hawaii Oracle
Users Group has notified me that there was a misunderstanding with
the original HIOUG announcement on the Oracle Ring of Fire
Conference web page, and their call for volunteers.
On June 18, 2006, this
HIOUG web page
announced their planning for the original "Oracle
Ring
of Fire" conference, issuing a call for volunteers:
"We're wanting to initiate the "Oracle Ring of Fire" conference
in Honolulu sometime in January/February 2015. Target
audience is Hawaii, west coast of the mainland, and Asia. We
currently have a few volunteers to assist with coordination of
the conference but can use a few more."
HIOUG Notes a change in the not-for-profit
stats of the Ring of Fire Conference, and it is now a for-profit
event, the proceeds going to the sponsors and speakers, and not the
user community, as originally reported:
For the
most part, the HIOUG had little to do with setting up this
gathering. Months ago we had the chance to make it happen, with
the assistance of other entities, but lack of action/attention
allowed the opportunity to slip away.
For those of us in Hawaii it is important for you to understand
that the ROF was organized by Speak-Tech and the Puget Sound
Oracle User Group. $1,500 of the $1,600 fee to attend goes
directly to those who organized the conference and speakers.
Organizers of ROF have stated that the HIOUG will receive $100
for each attendee that claims affiliation with our organization.
If you are interested in attending a not-for-profit OUG
conference, which appears to be scheduled for February 14-15 2015, I suggest you check into the Rocky Mountain Oracle User
Group web site. Although I do not see a formal announcement of
attendance fees, suggestions have been made that the cost will
be around $400.
Heart-felt thanks go to those individuals who went out of their
way to assist the HIOUG in arranging the ROF as a locally
organized conference; including Don and Janet Burleson, and
other OUG Officers. Additional acknowledgement goes to those
HIOUG members who stated their intent to volunteer their
support.
There is always next year!
Bottom line is that we have a once in a life time chance to
enjoy the company of some very big names in the Oracle world
that should not be missed if you can afford it!
The HIOUG Oracle Ring of Fire Conference
The Hawaii Oracle User Group (HIOUG) is planning
a new conference called the "Oracle Ring of Fire Conference", a
fundraiser and educational event for the
Hawaii Oracle Users Group.
The Hawaii Oracle user group
web page notes their
call for volunteers:
"We're wanting to initiate the "Oracle Ring of Fire" conference
in Honolulu sometime in January/February 2015. Target
audience is Hawaii, west coast of the mainland, and Asia. We
currently have a few volunteers to assist with coordination of
the conference but can use a few more.
Contact Byron at
ByronBush@gmail.com or (808) 218-5465 if you're interested
helping."
NCOUG and the Hampton Roads Oracle Users Group have offered to assist
HIOUG in their not-for-profit fundraiser and we are proud that BC
consultants have volunteered their time to provide training sessions.
HIOUG is also seeking corporate sponsors.
Planned for early 2015, it is hoped that the
Oracle Ring of Fire conference will likely attract the top Oracle
speakers from around the globe, volunteering to help support the HIOUG training event.
