  Fal server and fal_client

log_archive_trace

The fal_server and fal_client parameters are used for the gap resolution. When MRP finds that an archive log is missing during media recovery, it sends the fal_client information to the server identified by fal_server and requests fal_server to resend the file again. log_archive_format parameter on the primary and the standby site does not need to be same.

If a spfile is being used on either the primary or the standby database, the changes in the initialization parameter should be reflected in the spfile before the instance is restarted.

Some of these parameters can also be enabled using the ALTER SYSTEM command. The spfile must be used if the intention is to use Data Guard Broker to manage the configuration.

Oracle Net Configuration

For the Oracle instance to work in managed recovery mode, it must receive the archived redo logs from the primary database. The archived redo logs are transferred from the primary to the standby site using Oracle Net.
