Logical standby archive log gap tips

Oracle Database Tips by Donald BurlesonDecember 9, 2015

Resolving Archive Gap Sequence on Logical Standby Databases

Finding and resolving an archive gap sequence on a logical Oracle instance is a similar process to the one used on the physical standby database. The SQL script, find_gap.sql, from the code depot can be used to get the missing sequence numbers. Once the name of the archived redo logs that are missing on the standby site are obtained, they can be transferred from the primary database local archive destination to the standby site and registered with the log apply service using the following statement. The log file name might need to be renamed to match the log_archive_format parameter on the standby site.

For example:

ALTER DATABASE REGISTER LOGICAL LOGFILE '/oracle/appsdb/arch/logstdby_1_607.dbf';

Repeat this statement for all missing archived log files.
