Chapter 8 - RAC Administration
Using Enterprise Manager
This section will explain the administration of
RAC system using Enterprise Manager (EM). The EM, either with the
help of a management server or as a stand-alone component, can
manage the complete RAC system environment. The OEM tool is
completely cluster-aware. When you connect to a RAC system after
discovery by a management server, it would enable you to manage the
RAC system, the database, and its instances as a single system.
The EM management server can be located on any
of the machines in the network and the EM component/console can be
launched from any of the machines in the network. When you connect
to the RAC system by using the management server, you have
additional facilities such as the event manager and job scheduler to
manage, compared to the stand-alone EM component.
The Enterprise Manager Console provides a
central point of control for the Oracle environment. Use the EM to
discover the nodes on which the cluster database resides. Once
discovery is completed, you can administer all of the databases and
their instances and listeners that are associated with the nodes
discovered by Oracle Enterprise Manager.
