OIFCFG Syntax and Commands

You use the getif option to retrieve specific OIFCFG information:

oifcfg getif [ [-global | -node <nodename>]
[-if <if_name>[/<subnet>]] [-type <if_type>] ]

You use the setif keyword to store a new interface. For example, to store the interface hme0, with the subnet 187.188.130.0, as a global interface (to be used as an interconnect for all the RAC instances in your cluster), you would use the command:

oifcfg setif -global hme0/187.188.130.0:cluster_interconnect

For a cluster interconnect that exists between only two nodes, for example aultlinux1 and aultlinux2, you could create the eth1 interface with the following commands, assuming 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2 are the subnet addresses for the interconnect on aultlinux1 and aultlinux2:

oifcfg setif -node aultlinux1 eth1/1.1.1.1:cluster_interconnect
oifcfg setif -node aultlinux2 eth1/1.1.1.2:cluster_interconnect
