Oracle10g Grid Computing
with RAC
Chapter 6 - Install,
Configure and Database Creation
Oracle RAC Software Installation
Next, OUI displays the Database Management
Option for Database Control page where you can specify Grid or Local
Database Control. If you select Grid Control, Grid Management Server
should be running and be accessible.
After that, OUI displays the Data Storage
Option page. You are presented with options:
-
Automatic Storage Management (ASM) where you
can specify the disk partition locations.
-
File System where you can specify the full path
of the location for the data files destination on your shared or
cluster file system
-
raw devices - specify a location for the raw
device mapping file.
Next, you would see the progress bar is shown.

In the
end, the OUI prompts you to run the root.sh script on all the
selected nodes to start the Virtual Internet Protocol Configuration
Assistant (VIPCA) and display the VIPCA Welcome page. Before you run
root.sh, make sure that your display environment variables are
properly set. It may be more convenient to launch the VIPCA later to
formulate the appropriate services. However, note that the VIP has
to be configured before you start the DBCA to create the Database.
