Question: I am doing a database
recovery and I am getting the ORA-00322 error.
SQL> recover database;
ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
ORA-00322: log 2 of thread 1 is not current copy
ORA-00312: online log 2 of thread 1 is:
'C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\ORASID\redo02.log'
How do I fix an ORA-00322 error?
Answer: In this case you did not
properly restore the log file before issuing the recover
database command. The ORA-00322 error indicates
that you need to either restore or use the resetlogs
command. The oerr command shows this for the
ORA-00322 error:
ORA-00322: log string of
thread string is not current copy.
Cause:
Check of log file header at database open found
that an online log appears to be an incorrectly restored
backup.
Action: Restore correct file
or reset logs.
If you do not have a valid backup and you do not mind
loosing the most recent data then you can just reset the
redo log.
SQL> alter database clear logfile
'xxx';
or . . .
SQL> alter
database open resetlogs;
If you have a valid backup you can restore the database
using RMAN.
SQL> recover database using backup
controlfile;
When you see the "log applied message you can then open
the database with this command:
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
