I always wonder about those get rich quick
infomercials that run in the middle of the night, promising viewers
to give them the riches that “they deserve”. I also see a lot
of personal injury lawyers (ambulance chasers) promising to get
people the money that they “deserve”. Take a minute to watch this typical example:
When I hear this crap, my first reaction is "who says that you deserve
anything"?
Most of the people who fall for the "get the
money you deserve" pitch are greedy, and after losing
their $49.95, I can agree that they got what they really deserved!
The greedy mentality of hucksters in the TV ads also bothers me,
they deserve a
swift kick in the butt.
Oracle: Get what you deserve!
Oracle now promises to give you the credit you deserve, the
recognition you deserve, the credibility you deserve, and the
rewards you deserve. Sign me up!
Again,
this is my personal pet peeve, but I really don’t like vendors
telling people that they can get them what they deserve. There
is already too much self-entitlement in American society and way too
many people who cannot delay gratification and truly believe that
the government owes them a living.
While I expect this
hyperbole on TV I was quite surprised to see Oracle Corporation
promising to give Oracle professionals what they deserve! Here
is some hyperbole from Oracle Corporation, offering to
give you what you deserve.
-
“The result is a program that lets you
differentiate your business from the competition and gives you
the recognition you deserve”.
-
“You can validate your knowledge and get the
credit you deserve by passing the Specialization Assessments”.
-
“Getting certified with Oracle can bring you
the credibility you deserve”
“Set yourself apart from the
rest and get the information technology job you deserve.”.
-
“Get The Rewards You Deserve!”.
-
"Make sure you get the recognition you
deserve! But hurry . . ”
