Question: How to I periodically
delete un-used archived redo logs?Answer:
Every time to take a fresh bull backup, the "outdated" redo
logs can be purged from the archived redo log filesystem.
See these general notes on
archive Redo Logs.
There are several approaches to deleting archived redo logs:
RAC: delete archive redo logs:
RAC deletion archived redo logs
RMAN
delete archive redo logs: See my notes
on
RMAN delete archived redo logs.
OEM
delete archive redo logs: See
Removing Archive Redo Log files from Enterprise Manager
For example, if you take a full backup every 3 days, you
can run this script to delete all archived redo logs that
are older than 3 days:
#!/bin/ksh
# Cleanup PROD archive logs
more than 3 days old
/usr/bin/find
/u01/app/oracle/admin/PROD/arch/arch_prod*.arc -ctime +3 -exec
rm {} \;
