Question I created a database using DBCA
and now I want to the database name to appear on all of the
DBCA options., DBCA works fine, but it dies not
display the database name on the function.
How to you tell DBCA where to get the list of valid
databases?
Answer. The
following locations contain the list of database instances
named used by DBCA and Oracle to see what databases are on a
server:
-
/etc/oratab file (UNIX/Linux)
- The
/var/opt/oracle/oratab file (Oracle Sun Solaris)
- The Windows registry
These files
contain the
list of valid database instance names that you can use to
display within the DBCA. To add a instance or database
name to a DBCA list, add the instance/dbname to your oratab
file.
