Oracle Business Analytics tips

Oracle Tips by Burleson Consulting

Oracle business analytics describes the process of "harvesting" information from many discrete points within the database.  Raw information must be processed into meaningful data, and Oracle business analytics extract, scrub, and pre-package raw data, just like a factory processes a finished good.

Oracle business analytics are used heavily in marketing where OLAP and BI systems predict important buying trends and customer profiling.  In the area of medicine, Oracle business analytics are used to track drug treatment regimens, data that saves lives, but only because a business analytics professionals has cleansed, scrubbed, and prepared the raw data, transforming it into valuable information.

If you are seeking Oracle business analytics experts, beware that not all business intelligence consultants are experts.  If you want real-world business analytics expert support, just call BC for consulting by known industry experts.

Oracle has several tools and techniques to facilitate business analytics:

  • Oracle Data warehousing - Oracle is very robust and has many features that make business analytics less cumbersome (materialized views, etc.).

  • Oracle Discoverer - Oracle Discoverer provides a framework for Oracle business analytics with a run-time GUI for using and analyzing query data.

  • Oracle warehouse builder - The OWB product helps scrub and cleanse incoming data for business analytics.

  • Oracle Data Mining - The ODM tool allows statisticians to analyze large volumes of Oracle data using correlation algorithms.

  • Oracle OLAP - OLAP can be done within Oracle products or as "pivot tables" in Excel spreadsheets.
