Oracle Linux installation error Unable to load native library

Question:

I tried installing Oracle9i in Red Hat Linux (kernel version 2.4) with jre118_v3, and I have three Oracle disks. When I log in as user Oracle and hit this command:
    # /mnt/cdrom/runinstall
I get this error:
      Error: occurred during initialization of VM
Unable to load native library:
/tmp/OraInstall2006-01-12_09-13-27AM/jre/lib/i386 /libjava.so: symbol
__libc_wait, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link
time reference
Answer:

Did you go to the otn.oracle.com site and get the installation guide? In there are the prerequisites such as the versions of various support packages needed to be able to install.

From OTM we see this short explanation:

"__libc_wait is an internal symbol to glibc. It's not meant for other applications to use. So app is broken, not glibc."

Workaround for broken java vm:

- install and extract a fixed J2SE runtime
- alter Disk1/install/linux/oraparam.ini
JRE_LOCATION=/u00/app/oracle/jre1.3.1_11

Also it is worth mentioning that similar error with "symbol errno" can be avoided by using:
$ LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 Disk1/runInstaller
