Intermittent Explosive Disorder?

Oh Brother. We live in an age where personal responsibility
has been rapidly shifted, and a clinical diagnosis seems to relieve
people from all personal responsibility for their acts. Like
the legendary "Twinkie defense", and the
narcissistic
personality disorders, the new Intermittent Explosive Disorder"
or IED, will allow those charged with road rage to disown
responsibility by claiming that "it's not my fault, I suffer from
IED".
The Mayo clinic has now labeled people with temper tantrums as
suffering from "Intermittent Explosive Disorder" or IED. This, from
the
Mayo Clinic:
"Most people with this disorder [Intermittent
Explosive Disorder] grew up in families where explosive
behavior and verbal and physical abuse were common. Being
exposed to this type of violence at an early age makes it more
likely for these children to exhibit these same traits as they
mature."
Hey, IED sounds much better than "Asshole":
