ORA-22905: cannot access rows form a non-nested table item tips

Oracle Error Tips by Burleson Consulting

Oracle docs note this about ORA-22905:

ORA-22905: cannot access rows from a non-nested table item
Cause: attempt to access rows of an item whose type is not known at parse time or that is not of a nested table type
Action: use CAST to cast the item to a nested table type

If using Oracle 8i, you should certainly open a service request with Oracle technical support, because ORA-22905 is known to be associated with bugs in that version.

This is usually because in 9i you do not need the CAST operator.  This being, you will want to remember to add CAST to your TABLE in Oracle 8i to avoid ORA-22905.
