Joe is an experienced Real Application Clusters (RAC) Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) that has been working with Oracle for 20 years and possess a Masters degree in Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

Joe has designed, developed and tuned highly available databases and Oracle-based applications and possess an active Top Secret security clearance. He has excellent analytical and communication skills.  Joe is also a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and a FAA Licensed Private Pilot.

Employment History

2004-Present   Senior Database Architect

Senior Database Architect of a 12 TB RAC database in an n-tier architecture.  Integrating this database with legacy systems using SOA, which will save $3.5M in custom interface costs.  Was also Senior Database Architect of a 8 TB RAC database on which he performed SQL access and memory tuning which increased the throughput by 250%.

1998-2003       Senior DBA

Was the Senior DBA of a 1 TB database. The system facilitates collaboration of field technicians and managers via pagers, personal digital assistants, internet browsers, and wireless telephones. I converted the single instance database to a 2-node RAC database making the system scalable and saving $150K in new hardware costs.  Was also Senior DBA of a 100 GB database. The system detects, analyzes, and clearly identifies abnormal network conditions.  Normalized the schema for a disk space savings of 53% and improved the throughput by a factor of 5 by performing SQL access and memory tuning.

1996-1998       Senior DBA

Was the senior DBA of a 56 GB database. The system manages and administers digital cable TV video on demand. Used snapshots, now known as materialized views, during data migration to reduce downtime from 3 hours to 15 minutes during application software upgrades.

1994-1996       Senior DBA

Increased database performance by 300% in a system that reconfigures network capacity to meet demand. This increased customer satisfaction and resulted in $1.2M in additional revenue.

1993-1994      DBA

Designed and developed a database for a voice and data network monitoring, surveillance, and control system. Employed object-oriented design methodologies.

1992-1993      DBA

Designed and developed a data warehouse of the functional uses of area, point, and line geography and the grouping of these usages into hierarchies.
