OracleDOS Attack Exposure

Oracle has just announced a severity one alert for a weakness in the OracleXML Database feature (The XDB database).  The software allows a buffer overflow, which could be exploited by a hacker to capture an active session, and enter the Oracledatabase system.

A full patch is available for this exposure , and it is highly recommended that all customers using OracleRelease 2 with the XML database should IMMEDIATELY download and apply this patch if:

  • You are running Oraclerelease2


  • You are running the XML database feature (XDB)


  • Your database is connected to the Internet
