Speaker Details For The
UKOUG Reporting Tools & BIW
Special Event
The UK Oracle User Group is
holding a
Reporting Tools & BIW
Special Event on March
18th at the Renaissance
Hotel Heathrow, and they've
been lucky enough to get
hold of some excellent
Oracle and partner speakers
for the event. As well as a
keynote presentation and an
'Ask Oracle' panel session,
there's three parallel
presentation streams
dedicated to business,
technical and partner
presentations.
The day starts with a
presentation by Jon Page,
Oracle's VP EMEA, Oracle
Business Intelligence and
Warehousing, entitled
"Oracle Information
Architecture", with a
follow-on presentation by
Marianne Slight entitled
"Corporate Performance
Management and Enterprise
Planning and Budgeting".
Corporate Performance
Management is one of
Oracle's current business
intelligence initiatives,
and in the light of recent
announcements around the
Customer Data Hub and
Enterprise Planning &
Budgeting these should be a
useful couple of
presentations.
The technical stream
features a number of
well-known Oracle speakers,
covering Oracle Database
10g, Oracle 10g OLAP, and
the new Discoverer 'Drake'
OLAP tool;
-
Lillian
Hobbs (author of the
Oracle R2 Data
Warehousing book) is
presenting with the
Britannia Building
Society, on Oracle 10g
Database Tuning
Experiences, and more
that's new in 10g. I
missed Lillian's
recent presentation
at the UKOUG conference
so I'm particularly keen
to catch this one.
-
Andy
Osborn, Oracle's Vice
President Discoverer
Product Development is
giving a preview of the
next release of Oracle
Discoverer,
codenamed 'Drake', that
allows you to build
queries against both
standard relational
tables, and Oracle OLAP
data via the OLAP
Catalog.
-
Morgan
Russell, Director, BIW
Technology & Global OLAP
Professional Community
Leader, will be talking
about Oracle 10g OLAP,
with a particular
emphasis on reporting
and administration.
Morgan is very well
known to the Oracle OLAP
and Express community in
the UK and Europe, and
it's a particular coup
to get her to speak at
the event.
The business stream focusses
on the business issues
behind reporting and
business intelligence, and
as well as presentations by
Barclays Bank and GE Life,
there's also a live
demonstration of Enterprise
Planning & Budgeting in
action.
-
Lyn
Alexander, Business
Intelligence Manager for
Barclays Financial
Planners, is giving a
presentation on Data
Mart Consolidation & KPI
Reporting; Lyn looks
after the BI needs for a
number of Barclays
financial services
brands, and will be
giving some excellent
insights into how a
successful reporting
system is delivered and
run. Lyn's one of my
customers and I'll be
co-presenting with her,
in my case going into
the more technical
aspects of their system.
-
Ian
Starkey, from GE Life,
will discuss the use of
OFA for management
reporting within a GE
business, covering the
benefits of using OFA,
the lessons learnt
during the
implementation, and
demonstrating some of
the unique features of
the implementation that
have improved the
efficiency of the OFA
administrator and OFA
users.
-
Oracle's
Marianne Slight will
also be giving us a live
demonstration of
Enterprise Planning &
Budgeting, the
long-awaited successor
to Oracle Financial
Analyzer and Oracle
Sales Analyzer. EPB is
due for release this
year, so it'll be an
excellent chance to get
a first look at this
tool.
A number of companies are
sponsoring the event,
including
Plus Consultancy,
Oracle, Microstrategy,
Cognos, Noetix,
DecisionPoint and
InfoCyclone, and each of
them is giving a
presentation in the third,
partner, stream. As one of
the Plus Consultancy team,
this is a particularly
exciting event for us as
we're giving a presentation
and live demonstration of
Qubeview, our new BI
Beans-based Oracle OLAP
reporting suite.
If you're in the UK or
Ireland, and you're
interested in reporting and
business intelligence on the
Oracle platform, be sure to
register and come along,
as it'll be an invaluable
way to learn about new
product developments, and
discuss business and
technical issues with other
event delegates.
Full details of the event,
including the
agenda,
how to register, and
how to get there, are on
the
UKOUG website.
