Imagine being about to
search the entire Library of Congress with full precision and
recall. That day is coming soon and it will change the way that all
Oracle professionals gather information.
Google
Print was just launched in October 2004, and it
promises to forever change the way that Oracle professionals
find information:
"If
Google or others make libraries available--bringing the old
information into the information age--that's an earthquake and a
cause for cheer."
It appears by default in all Google searches
now, and Oracle publishers such as O'Reilly and Rampant have
already enrolled in this exciting new feature.
"Books already
have been submitted by more than a dozen publishers,
including Penguin, Wiley, Hyperion, Pearson, Taylor &
Francis, Cambridge, Chicago, Oxford, Princeton and
Scholastic, the AP reports, adding that for now only
English-language books will be indexed, with other languages
added later."
For publishers, it is safe
because Google Print is fully protected, and there is no way
for anyone to "steal" content because it maps-out pages in a
protected non-text images. Also, the publisher can limit
the number of pages that you can view.
