Weird News - Don't steal someone's affection!
North Carolina has an interesting law that severely punished
people who cause a couple to divorce. It's called "alienation
of affection", and just as people are fined for littering,
"homewreckers" face huge fines by the courts for their disregard for
the sanctity of marriage.

Here in North Carolina, alienation of affection is taken very
seriously and the victims of homewreckers are rewarded with
multi-million dollar punishments. In 2001, a Greensboro jury
awarded $2 million and another jury awarded $1.2 million in 1997.
The alienation of affection law also provides financial rewards
to the children who are often traumatized for life when they learn
that their beloved Mommy showed her naughty bits to a guy other than
Dad.
The seven States that allow lawsuits for alienation of affection
laws include Hawaii, Illinois, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New
Mexico, North Carolina, South Dakota and Utah.

alienation of affection.
