Oracle provides Cluster File
System 2 for Linux at no cost
Oracle recently announced that their Oracle
Cluster File System 2 (OCFS 2) for Linux will be distributed with the
Linux kernel, the software that forms the basis of Linux
distributions.
The Oracle Cluster File System 2 includes various
system enhancement functionalities such as: allowing all nodes
in a cluster to access a file at the same time, the ability to run
non-database, standard file system operations emphasizing it's ability
to perform as a general purpose file management system as opposed to
being database-specific.
The software is already included in Novell's Suse
Linux Enterprise and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. It will now be
included as part of the Linux kernel version 2.6.16.
