Oracle strives for 20% ROI

The software industry is mesmerized with the concept of double-digit growth (over 10% on investment), and Oracle has raised their expectations to growing revenue to 20 cents on the dollar.  It also notes that Oracle has 3.8 billion dollars in cash in its vaults:
"We have no plans to buy anything that doesn't contribute to our long-term strategy and profit margins of 20 percent per year over the next five years," Ellison said.
Oracle has returned stunning  profits, based on an 1800 million dollar advertising and marketing budget:
Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Oracle reported Wednesday morning fourth-quarter earnings for fiscal 2005 of $1.02 billion, or 20 cents per share, up from $990 million, or 19 cents per share, in the same period last year.
The article also notes that Oracle is not alone in gobbling-up other companies:
The software industry is rapidly consolidating as companies try to maintain double-digit percentage earnings growth and drastically slash costs.
