Feuerstein launches new PL/SQL tools

June 15,2005

The legendary Steven Feuerstein is considered the world's leading expert in Oracle PL/SQL technology.  A leading PL/SQL author (nine books with OíReilly), Feuerstein has an ardent following of thousands of Oracle developers across the globe.  Stephen Feuerstein has put together some new information on his website, and he is sponsoring some exciting new PL/SQL products and tools.  Itís so much great content that it makes you want to pull your hair out:

  • See the Feuerstein Oracle PL/SQL Downloads page includes slides and notes from his best PL/SQL seminars:
    • The Brave New World of PL/SQL
    • MIN-MAX PL/SQL: a tuning and best practices seminar
    • This Old Program, These Old Programmers
    • Oracle PL/SQL Advanced Techniques
    • Demonstration file: massive collection of scripts for all the seminars

  • Stephen Feuerstein also has a new utPLSQL utility for organizing PL/SQL and doing PL/SQL testing:

"the only unit-testing framework available for PL/SQL developers. An open-source utility, utPLSQL can help you organize and automate unit testing of PL/SQL programs and packages."

  • Stephen Feuersteinís current projects also include Qnxo, a new active mentoring software product:

Searchable, extensible code repository: draw from a wide-ranging set of reusable code and templates for Oracle PL/SQL development.  Or build your own code toolboxes. Stop re-inventing the wheel!

Flexible and practical code generator: much of what we write follows a pattern. Qnxo captures those patterns and generates best practice code you can use instantly.

Oracle PL/SQL error manager: Qnxo offers a built-in framework to define, handle and report on errors in your PL/SQL code.

September 2005 marks the 10th anniversary of the publication by O'Reilly Media of Oracle PL/SQL Programming (OPP), the first third-party text on Oracle PL/SQL and the first book on PL/SQL written by Steven Feuerstein.

OPP has long been considered the "bible for PL/SQL developers" and has sold over 200,000 copies through its first three editions.

Steven has decided to celebrate this moment with a two-day conference on, and celebration of, the Oracle PL/SQL language: Oracle PL/SQL Programming 2005.
