Microsoft Reveals Vulnerabilities in a Variety of Products

April 20, 2004

Impacting Microsoft products including Office, Outlook, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows NT 4.0, Windows XPVisual Studio, and NetMeeting, Microsoft astonished the security community with its announcement of 21 grave liabilities within a wide array of applications and operating systems. Described as unprecedented, consequences of these vulnerabilities include: denial of service, remote execution of code and complete system takeover.

In an article by Edmund X. DeJesus for SearchSecurity.com, Michael Murray, director of engineering at nCircle, warned:

"Expect to see widespread exploitation of these vulnerabilities and real pain as corporate IT deals with the repercussions over the next couple of months."
