Oracle Asia pushes outsourcing


April 15, 2004

This article notes that Oracle is heavily pushing outsourcing options in Asia:
 
 
'The term outsourcing means many things and often refers to the entire IT infrastructure,' Mr Chew said. 'Our approach is to tell companies to 'let Oracle manage Oracle software' as we would have the best expertise to provide world-class management of our own software.'
 
Oracle's Mr Chew said the on-demand solution helps companies lower costs and boost efficiencies by automating the key processes associated with software management - including software uptime, upgrades, problems, security and performance - which can be measured in real-time. 'We see delivery on demand as the future of the software industry,' Mr Chew said. 'The key is to boost process efficiencies.'

"Boosting process efficiency, for instance, helped one Oracle customer, JDS Uniphase Inc, save US$35 million a year and slash its IT budget 60 per cent."
