New February Oracle Security Alerts

February 23, 2004

A potential security vulnerability has been discovered by Amit Klein (Sanctum Inc.) in Oracle9i Application Server and Oracle9i Database Server. The vulnerability involves the processing of SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) messages whose XML contains carefully constructed Data Type Definitions (DTDs).

Security vulnerabilities have been discovered by David Litchfield (Next Generation Security Software Ltd.) in the Oracle 9iR2 and 9iR1 database servers. An authenticated user with the ability to execute SQL is required to exploit these vulnerabilities.

There are multiple vulnerabilities in Oracle9i Lite 5 Mobile Server discovered by Alexander Kornbrust. A valid account is not necessary to exploit one of the vulnerabilities. For all other vulnerabilities a valid login to Oracle9i Lite Mobile Server is necessary. An attacker can gain unauthorized access as DBA to the Oracle database server which contains the Oracle9i Lite schema.
