Mark Rittman

PL/SQL Resources, and Steven Feuerstein

As an alternative to the official PL/SQL documentation available on OTN, Elliot Spencer has put together a useful and concise guide to the main features of PL/SQL. It's not too clear exactly which version of PL/SQL he covers (I think it's from around the 7.3.4 era) but it's got some good features on the basic block structure, declaring variables, PL/SQL records, cursors, procedures and control structures. Useful if you're an Express programmer who needs to knock up a bit of PL/SQL code in a hurry.

At the other end of the scale, for the PL/SQL experts out there, Steven Feuerstein has put together a few pages on his website that are worth checking out; his Oracle PL/SQL Downloads page includes slides and notes from his best practices seminar, and the page for utPLSQL, "the only unit-testing framework available for PL/SQL developers. An open-source utility, utPLSQL can help you organize and automate unit testing of PL/SQL programs and packages."

I've always admired Steven after the way he put together Oracle PL/SQL Programming Guide to Oracle8i Features; if you get a chance, check out what he did, and the fun that ensued, at the 'I Don't Like Your Examples' page.
