Oracle Academy
Offers High-School DBA Classes

Oracle Corporation, not satisfied in
claiming that anyone can become a DBA in only two-days, just opened
an "Academy" to teach Oracle to high-school students:
Obviously in accordance with the "no
child left behind" initiative, public schools who have cut-back on
food and superfluous amenities such as music and literature, public
institutions can now fork-over $2,000.000 to get an Oracle database
curriculum for their high school students desiring training in
database management. For only $3,000.00, Oracle will provide a Java
curriculum too.
According to the Oracle Academy web

The participation fee includes
teacher professional development, lesson by lesson curriculum and
materials, online development and learning environments, support and
much more. The following is included in the participation
fee for each instructor.
Oracle Academy Instructor's Institute at Oracle
designated location. The 2005 Institute is planned to be held at
the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA)
- 3 Courses are offered:
- Database Design and
Programming - 6 Days
- Database Application
Development - 6 Days
- Java Programming - 10
Days over two weeks
- Transportation for US
instructors only that live more than 200 miles from where the
Institute is held. Instructors outside the US will have to
provide transportation to UCLA.
- Lodging & Meals
- Instructor course materials
- Oracle certified instructor
teaching the course
- Online learning environment
- Certificate of successful
completion, if instructor meets requirements
- Pre-Institute Professional
Development from March to June
- 40 to 70 hours of online
professional development in the courses to be taught. The hours
vary on the instructors prior technical experience and English
fluency.
