Center for Internet Security Releases Oracle Security Benchmark
October
11, 2004
The Center for Internet security is now
offering two Oracle downloads for auditing Oracle security:
OracleBenchmark.pdf(v1.1): A Adobe PDF file
that contains the Level 1 and Level 2 security configuration
settings and recommendations for Oracle Database versions 8i and 9i.
Oracle Database Scoring Tool: Audit only,
host based tool that will scan Oracle 8i and 9i databases for
compliance with the CIS Oracle Database Benchmark.
According to CIS, this tool aids Oracle
DBA's in security auditing:
The Oracle Scoring Tool analyzes the host system and produces a
score of 0 through 10, with 10 representing the highest level of
conformity to the CIS Oracle Database Benchmark. Reports generated
by the Oracle Scoring Tool guide users in making changes to harden
the security configuration of the database application.
The Benchmarks are unique because security professionals from
around the world contribute to the consensus security configuration
recommendations. This group of security professionals includes the
public/private user community, as represented by CIS member
organizations, as well as representatives from participating
software vendors.
