Three new versions:

10.1.2 is the Application Suite
10.1.3 is just the AS and Identity Management
Standard Edition One (SE1) is for small business.

   Each of the new releases is J2EE 1.4 certified and supports the new Java 1.5 (Tiger).  JDeveloper is again tightly integrated, providing visual (drag and drop) development and deployment.  TopLink now supports more than just an object-relation mapping to include object-object mapping.  The UML feature (not very useful in the last release) is much more capable. ADF includes Java Server Faces support.  ADF has also become more powerful.  The just release update to the e-business suite is built using ADF.

    The Application Server supports "fully automatic" upgrades and much improved high availability features.  One cool feature is the AS flash-back.  You can now flashback the application server in the same manner that you flashback the Oracle database.  This features allows you to return the application server to an earlier configuration (does not flashback the applications running on the AS).  Also there is an updated, industry standard BPEL engine.

     Portal now comes with an instant portal out of the box.  This is a complete build portal that allows you to quickly create you portal by modifying the instant portal.  Apparently this is in response to customers request due to the complexity of the initial portal setup. 

     The AS10gR2 Suite includes a number of new features like Business Events Monitor and RFID tag interfaces.  The RFID tag interface includes an RFID Edge Sever that converts the numerous tag interfaces into which ever interface you application uses.  This eliminates the need for you application to support all these different standards.  The Business Event Monitors allows you to monitor your business requirements from within the application server, analysis the impact and fire off alerts if necessary.  "Like Oracle Enterprise Manager but based on your business."
