Oracle's Support For AMD 64bit Opteron Processors

The Oracle Application Server 10g is supported on servers using Opteron processors.

Oracle supports the Application Server 10g on Opteron servers when running 32bit or 64bit RedHat EL 3.0 or SUSE SLES8. 

Whether or not you are using a 64bit OS on the Opteron server, the application server and all of it's components run as 32bit applications.

Supported components are:

  • J2EE (OC4J and TopLink)
  • Portal
  • Forms
  • Identity Management
  • Reports
  • BI
  • Wireless
  • Web Cache

Oracle is looking for market demand for a 64bit version of the Application Server 10g and it's components.

The 64bit version of the Oracle 10g Database is currently in a Developer status and is available on OTN.
