Fast_Start_MTTR_Target tips

Oracle Tips by Burleson Consulting

The Oracle Documentation notes:

The fast_start_mttr_target defines the effective mean time to recovery (MTTR) target, expressed in seconds.

The default for fast_start_mttr_target is 300 seconds (5 Minutes). and maximum we can give 3600 ( 1 Hour).

If fast_start_mttr_target is set to san impossibly small amount of time, then the target_mttr field will contain the effective MTTR target, which is always larger than fast_start_mttr_target.

If FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET is set to such a high value that even in the worst-case (the whole buffer cache is dirty) recovery would not take that long, then the TARGET_MTTR field contains the estimated MTTR in the worst-case scenario. This field is 0 if FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET is not specified.
