APEX Copying
(exporting/importing) pages (screens) between workspaces
Oracle Tips by Burleson Consulting |
APEX does not support exporting of pages from
one workspace to another. With a little hacking, a way has been
found! The only problem with this method is that the regions,
reports, items and buttons lose their template definition. These
will have to manually corrected. This is a small price to pay
considering the time savings of being able to copy pages.
First step involves exporting the source
page. This can be done by first going to the application and then
hitting the Export/Import button as shown below in Figure 1.

Then from the Export/Import page, click on the
Export, Figure 2.

Next step is to click on the Export Page task
on the right side of the screen, Figure 3.
The Export Page will be shown.

You can also access this Export Page from the
Page Definition screen by using the View dropdown.
Now choose the page you wish to export from the
Page drop down list. Also choose the file format you wish to down
load the file. Click the Export Page button. The system will ask
to Open, Save or Cancel the file.

Save the file. Now perform an export on any
page from the destination workspace following the same procedure.
. Now you will need to open both files using an editor - use
WordPad or TextPad if you have it. Notepad does not work will
because the file does not have carriage returns after the end of the
lines.
In the file from the destination workspace,
look for a couple of lines that look like the following:
-- Assumes you are running the script
connected to sqlplus as the owner (parsing schema) of the
application or as the APEX product schema.
wwv_flow_api.set_security_group_id(p_security_group_id=>1849003232797416);

They should only be down about 20 lines. Copy
the group_id number, in this case 1849003232797416. In the
page from the source file, look for the same lines. Replace its group_id with this number. Save the source file.
Now you can simply import and install the
source file into the new workspace. Again, remember to correct the
templates on the Regions, Items, Report and Buttons.
