Repositioning cruises (also called "transitional" cruises) are a great way to get across
an ocean without going with the formal transatlantic carriers such as Cunard
cruises (owned by Carnival cruise lines).
The
Cunard six day transatlantic cruises are legendary, but you must like the
"elegant" Cunard experience. Transatlantic cruise prices on Cunard start
at about $1,500 each (one way) and can go to over $20,000 for a suite..
Other transitional cruises offer similar bargains, and they visit more obscure
ports such as Iceland and Greenland. Princess cruises offer transatlantic
crossings each September and April, with prices as low as $900 for a 18-day
trans-Atlantic adventure.
We tried the Crown Princess transatlantic crossing and here is our
Crown Princess transatlantic 2008 cruise ship review.
