Grand Turk Visitor Reviews

Travel Tips by Burleson Consulting

As part of the research for our book "Turks and Caicos Insider Adventures", we found Grand Turk Island to be one of the few remaining unspoiled gems of the Caribbean.  Amazing water, quaint colonial architecture and some of the friendliest people anywhere.

For accommodations, stay at the Salt Raker Inn, a charming 19th century whaling house, with great reviews:

The Salt Raker Inn was great! I was a bit skeptical because of the age and a not so great review I had run across.
My room was spacious and spotless! The fridge was handy for drinks, snacks etc.

The Restaurant had a nice, friendly staff and terrific food. Erica goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and had answers to most questions. She arranged a horseback ride for me as well as taxis etc.  The location can't be beat. Steps to Oasis Dive Shop. They have an operation that can't be beat for diving, snorkeling, whale watching etc.

Several other restaurants are steps away as is the beach and sunset!!!  Erica even provides private hammocks to enhance the great stay!!!!

The Saltraker is a small 180 year-old Bermuda style whaling house and it just drips charm. Erika, the proprietor is amazing, super-friendly and fluent in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.

The rooms are clear and well maintained with excellent air conditioning (an important factor). The restaurant Secret Garden has wonderful hashed lobster and mac and cheese, and friendly folks.

Other reviews about Grand Turk include:

  • We loved Grand Turk, a very charming and unspoiled island. The brand-new facilities at the cruise terminal are quite nice. . .  We walked the length of Cockburn Town and enjoyed the friendliness and hospitality of the locals. - Grand Turk Review on
  • We enjoyed the hiking trails there, though, and the scenery was natural with a wild and untamed beauty. - Grand Turk Review on
  • The diving in Grand Turk is superb. Snorkeling off Governor's Beach was also reported as very good. - Grand Turk Review on
  • The Grand Turk Museum is one of those intriguing little gems you can't believe exists in such a far-flung location. - Grand Turk Review by Margo Pfeiff
