BC Oracle Cruise Meeting

The BC Oracle cruise for 2005 has been scheduled for January 30th - February 6th, 2005.  We will be send all consultants and their wives first-class air tickets about 7 days before departure.  There are some superb scuba opportunities, so bring your wet suit:  Our 205 Oracle cruise will be on the Carnival Victory.

We will be sailing on the Carnival Victory

Venture out of your spacious stateroom and experience the outdoor areas, wonderful restaurants, friendly casino, relaxing lounges, invigorating spa, exciting nightclubs and duty-free shopping. Come aboard and see for yourself.

BC will pay for you (and your spouse) to attend this mandatory meeting, including round-trip first-class airfare and the full cruise fare.  BC cannot cover incidental ship expenses (booze, souvenirs, Rolex watches, etc.).  You will not be paid any hourly rate for your attendance, except in cases of on-ship Oracle support.  The ship has Internet access, so make sure to bring your wireless-enabled laptop.

The 2005 Oracle database cruise will offer you an opportunity to get to know your co-workers and cross-train on important Oracle technical issues including RAC internals and other secrets for Oracle tuning.  Being frugal, Janet will book  last-minute rooms, so the Caribbean destinations will be a surprise.

This will be a 5 or 7-day working meeting aimed at knowledge sharing and strategic planning, sailing from Fort Lauderdale:

• Cross training - You will be called-upon to educate your peers in your area of expertise, especially RAC skills. (Don, John, Mike & Robert)
   
• Strategic planning - We will discuss methods to enhance our market share in Oracle consulting, Oracle training and Remote DBA.
   
• Team Building - This meeting will be designed to foster a spirit of teamwork, and consultants will be required to participate in technical team building activities (pub crawls, tournament, scuba diving and port activities)
